Samhain Season: A Soft Descent Into the Dark Half of the Year

As we come to the end of April here in Brisbane, we’re entering the Samhain portal — the true Halloween in the Southern Hemisphere. This is the time when the veil thins, the air cools, and the energy naturally turns inward.

In the old seasonal wheel, this is the end of the harvest. A moment to honour what has grown in your life… and what is ready to be laid down.

A Gentle Samhain Reflection

Take a slow breath and ask yourself:

  • What have I harvested from the past few months — emotionally, spiritually, or personally?

  • What feels complete, finished, or ready to be released?

  • Where is my energy naturally wanting to withdraw, simplify, or rest?

There’s no need to force answers. Just notice what rises.

A Tiny Ritual for This Week

If you’d like a simple, sensory‑safe way to honour the season:

The Candle & Shadow Ritual (5 minutes)

  • Light a small candle (or imagine one if fire doesn’t feel right).

  • Place your hand over your heart or belly.

  • Whisper one thing you’re grateful for from this “harvest season”.

  • Then whisper one thing you’re ready to release as we move into the darker half of the year.

  • Blow out the candle slowly, imagining the release dissolving with the smoke.

This is a beautiful way to honour endings without heaviness — just gentle completion.

A Reminder for Sensitive Souls

This season can stir emotions, memories, intuition, and dreams. If you feel a little softer, slower, or more reflective than usual… you’re not doing anything wrong. You’re simply moving with the natural rhythm of the year.

May this Samhain bring you grounding, clarity, and a sense of being held by the season itself.
