Samhain Season: A Soft Descent Into the Dark Half of the Year

As we come to the end of April here in Brisbane, we’re entering the Samhain portal — the true Halloween in the Southern Hemisphere. This is the time when the veil thins, the air cools, and the energy naturally turns inward.

In the old seasonal wheel, this is the end of the harvest. A moment to honour what has grown in your life… and what is ready to be laid down.

A Gentle Samhain Reflection

Take a slow breath and ask yourself:

  • What have I harvested from the past few months — emotionally, spiritually, or personally?

  • What feels complete, finished, or ready to be released?

This Week’s Tiny Ritual

Take a slow breath and place one hand somewhere your body naturally welcomes it — your heart, your belly, your shoulder, your cheek.

Let your hand rest there for three quiet breaths.

Then ask softly:

“What do I need a little more of today?”

You don’t have to act on the answer right now.

Just listening is the ritual.

Today’s Sensory Check‑In: Sight

Take a slow breath and let your eyes soften.

Without searching or analysing, simply notice:

What is one thing in your space right now that feels calming to look at?

It might be:

  • a soft texture

  • a colour that soothes you
